The South Carolina Cancer Disparities Community Network (SCCDCN) is a
partnership between the University of South Carolina, State Baptist
Young Woman’s Auxiliary of the South Carolina Woman’s Baptist Education
and Missionary Convention, South Carolina Primary Health Care
Association, and the Carolina Community Based Health Supports Network.
Our goal is to reduce cancer health disparities. For some time, we have
known that African Americans in South Carolina fare much worse than
White people (or European Americans) when it comes to cancer. Until now,
knowing that these disparities exist has not always led to programs and
services being offered that address the problem. It has not even led to
asking good questions about why they exist. So, our knowledge is
incomplete and our actions have fallen short. |
